The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at Cochin, formerly known as the Kaloor International Stadium, was established only in 1996-97 with a seating capacity of 60000 in multiple tiers. It is one of the four largest stadiums in India and the largest in Kerala. The ground is lit by a set of unique convex pylon floodlights that arch over the ground and it makes for a brilliant view.
The first ODI was played on April 1, 1998. It is also the home ground for the Kerala state Ranji team and also the football club FC Kochi. This ground has cherished the rare opportunity of witnessing the talent of master blaster Sachin Tendulkar not only as a batsman but a bowler too, who has claimed largest number of wickets here, with the best performance of 5/32.
