Silent Valley National Park

Pulamanthole, a small hamlet on the banks of River Kunthy is well known for its ayurvedic tradition. This land is blessed with the presence of a century old Rudra Dhanwanthari (The God Of Ayurveda, as per Indian Myths) Temple, which is very close to the resort. Ashta vaidyan Pulamanthole Moose, who was a legendary ayurvedic doctor hails from this village and he was a strict follower of traditional ayurvedic treatments. The heritage of this village encrypts that the greatest guru (teacher) of ayurveda "VAGBHADAN" had spent his last days in this land under a huge banyan tree. The centuries old banyan tree is no more. However a younger one has come up in the same place where people still light "Kalvilakku" (traditional lamp made of stone) in memory and respect for the great guru of ayurveda.

Tourists are entertained to visit the near by Rudra Dhanwanthary Temple (The temple of the God of Medicines) and visit to the Moose's illam (The house where the Brahmin community in Kerala live is called Illam.) to see and experience the traditional ayurvedic medicine making and treatment.

 

Thirumandhamkunnu Temple

Thirumandhamkunnu TempleDedicated to Goddess Durga, this is an important pilgrim centre in Malappuram district about 40 kms from Emarald Hotel Mannarkkad. The annual Pooram festival celebrated in March /April attracts large numbers of devotees. A unique custom here is the arrival of Vellathiri in the Pooram ground to give audience to the Malayankutty, the headman of the Pana tribal community. Kalampattu is an important offering here. Mangalya pooja, Rigveda laksharchana and Chandattam are other important poojas.

The temple is located about 3 km west of Angadipuram on the way to Malappuram from Perinthalmanna.

 

Palakkad Fort

Palakkad FortPalakkad (Palghat) Fort or Tippu's Fort is an imposing fort situated in an area of 15 acres, on the western border of Palakkad town, about 40 kms from Emarald Hotel Mannarkkad, in the state of Kerala. A protected monument under the Archaeological Survey of India, this is one of the best preserved forts in Kerala.

Palakkad Fort-Tippu's Fort has great historical importance, and also represents the rich cultural heritage of Kerala. The Fort narrates the history of Mysore invasion and the advent of the British to the region.
